Markham's neighbourhoods and communities
Markham is located in the Regional Municipality of York. It is north of Toronto and has a population of 261,573 according to the 2006 census. Today, it is regarded by many to be Canada's Hi-Tech Capital with many key companies in the area, such as IBM, Motorola, Toshiba, Lucent, Sun Microsystems, Apple Inc., Genesis Microchip and is home to AMD. Markham is made up of many communities, each with a distinct character and charm.
